And you don't want to see Harry Potter on its first weekend because the crowds [and large amounts of kids who will freak the fuck out come the battle scene], might I suggest Once? It's a musical out of Ireland, and it's positively brilliant. It's also just positively positive. It's a story about nice people trying to do something they love, and they're surrounded by nice people. There's no one in the movie who's a backstabber or a bastard, and the guy that comes closest is merely disinterested before he's turned around. It's a charming, wonderful film that deserves every ounce of praise that it's received. It's just a lovely, warm film that's honest and sweet and in no way over-the-top or cloying. And the two leads can sing and play and fucking sing. Really if you're gonna shell out, shell out for that.
And if you, in any way, shape, or form respect, love, admire, or even marginally accept women, for fuck's sake don't see Captivity, and tell everyone you know not to see it either. Pajiba.com, a movie review site, has it's review up, and it covers every reason why that film is nothing but misogyny and sexism and pure disgust and depredation. I warn you, some of the things mentioned are incredibly brutal. Dustin, the reviewer, very clearly states some of the torture treatments, so if your stomach is weak, I don't recommend you browse it.
( non-graphic information under the cut, including the *twist*, which is shit )
Conversation on either film is fully welcome, although all responses I have to Captivity will most likely be filled with f-bombs [shocking, I know].
